The guides

A round in the castle

What typically happens in one round?

Night — Traitors secretly choose someone to murder (or seduce/issue an ultimatum to)
Morning — the castle wakes up, chats, then finds out what happened
Mission — everyone works (or competes) to add Gold to the pot
Roundtable — open discussion about who might be a Traitor
Vote & Banishment — everyone votes, and whoever gets the most votes is banished and their role revealed

Then it repeats until the game ends.

Common questions

What is this?

A Discord version of The Traitors. Some of you are secretly Traitors trying to eliminate everyone else without getting caught. Everyone else is a Faithful trying to work out who the Traitors are before it's too late.

How many players do I need?

Minimum 4 real people. Maximum 20 per game. Any seats not filled by real players get filled with AI personas so a game can always run at full size.

How do I join a game?

When someone opens sign-ups in #the-traitors-game, click Join. Once enough people have joined, the host closes sign-ups and the game begins.

How do I find out my role?

You're told privately at the start of the game via DM, only you (and your fellow Traitors, if you are one) ever see it.

Can a Traitor be recruited from the Faithfuls?

Yes, in certain situations a Traitor can offer a Faithful a choice: join them, or be murdered. This can be through a standard seduction or an ultimatum, dependent on the number of traitors remaining at the time.

How does the game end?

Once the player count gets low enough, it moves into a finale where the remaining players vote each round on whether to end the game or banish one more person first. If only Traitors are left at the end, they face the Traitors' Dilemma: each secretly chooses Share or Steal for the pot.

What's the pot, and who gets it?

Gold earned from missions builds up over the game into a shared pot. If the Faithfuls win (all Traitors banished), the pot is split among surviving Faithfuls. If any Traitors survive to the end, the Traitors take the entire pot.
